Cabin Network for Wireless Sensors and Actuators


 

The KASI CoNtESSA project builds up on the research conducted under the @MOST SWAN and NELA HyWAYs project, with the focus on wireless sensor network development based on a system-on-chip (SoC) solution as platform for the overall aircraft network architecture.

 


The KASI CoNtESSA project has a duration of three years and is a continuation of the achievements reached during the HyWAYs project. Within the HyWAYs project, an existing prototype of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) for modular multi-application system for aeronautical maintenance services was extended to support structural health and usage monitoring of the fuselage to introduce predictive maintenance. Additionally novel software features to detect jamming and use NFC for installation and configuration were developed.

The main research focuses of the CoNtESSA project are:

  • Improvement of the 4.3 GHz transceiver system on chip (SoC) hardware
  • Further development of the wireless module and wireless data concentrator (WDC) hardware and software
  • Tighter integration of the wireless sensor network into the cabin management system, which includes integration of the WDC on the DEU, and the integration of the Control & Management server into the CCB Director
  • Further development of wireless sensor applications, which includes lighting control and doors monitoring, taking into account the new wireless module hardware and software.

 

 

 

TriaGnoSys' main project contributions are related to the further development of the Control and Management software components of the WSN infrastructure. To this end, TriaGnoSys will develop new features to improve network robustness (jamming detection and countermeasure, security), as well as improve the existing software with respect to integration into the cabin management system, modularity, stability, scalability, as well as support of multitude of applications.
